The Gordon M. Ritcey Award
2007 winner – Berny Rivera-Vasquez
The Gordon M Ritcey Award was established in 2004 in honour of a
Canadian hydrometallurgist whose accomplishments, particularly in the
field of solvent extraction, are known throughout the world. He has
received many awards for his accomplishments, including the Carl Hanson
Medal (2002), the CIM Fellowship (2002), the Alcan Award (1985), and the
CIM MetSoc Silver Medal (1994). Also, notably, he established the
hydrometallurgy section of the CIM in 1967. This award recognizes
outstanding scholarship in the pursuit of a graduate degree in
hydrometallurgy.
