 2007 winner –
Jean-François Turgeon
“In recognition for outstanding contributions in the
chloride pressure hydrometallurgy of titania”.
Jean-François Turgeon graduated from Laval
University in 1989 with a Bachelors degree in
chemical engineering and completed a Masters
degree in hydrometallurgy engineering at McGill
University in 1993. He is a member of the Quebec

main slag product from 80% TiO2 to 95% TiO2. Mr. Turgeon is one of the
inventors of this process which was developed at the QIT Sorel-Tracy
research facilities.
In 1996 he was appointed Technical Superintendent of the new UGS
