Students - Become part of COM!

We would like to invite our Students to volunteer for COM 2009 taking place from August 23 to 26, 2009 in Sudbury, Ontario. It’s an excellent opportunity to network and earn some extra cash. To submit a poster: http://www.com2009abstracts.ca/registration/. You will receive an email confirmation that your poster has been received. All posters are welcome and we do not have an approval/review process for Posters. Deadline to submit posters is July 1, 2009. Presenters Registration deadline: July 1, 2009. Should you become Staff at COM; we can make arrangements so your work schedule reflects time off to set up and be present at the Poster Session on Monday.

Financial assistance is available to support student travel to the conference. Priority will be given to poster or paper presenters and CIM student members from Canada. Please use the online Student Travel Request Form at http://www.metsoc.org/students/conftrip.asp and send your request for funding, including an abstract of your accepted paper/poster to: Brigitte Farah, MetSoc of CIM Tel.: (514) 939-2710, ext. 1329, Fax: (514) 939-9160, bfarah@cim.org Funding will be determined by the end of July.

Student Accommodations: Student residences are available for accommodations during the Conference. The Student West residence building is an apartment style complex. There are four single bedrooms inside each unit. The units contain two washrooms with showers. Each room has internet access, however an ethernet cable is required. If you wish to share this room with friends, please indicate this in your email reservation. The rooms are $42.00/night/per person and must be booked directly via Laurentian University Conference Services. Things to do while in Sudbury!

BOWLING?! If you're arriving on Saturday, why not join your fellow students in a friendly game/competition of bowling?! FREE for all COM students! Beverages, transport and game fee all paid by MetSoc. Our game will begin at 6 pm. More details to come. Sign up here!

STUDENT INDUSTRY MIXER - Sponsored by Barrick Gold Corporation: On the evening of Monday, August 24th, representatives from industry and students are invited to meet informally at the mixer sponsored by Barrick Gold Corporation. We will announce the winners of the Student Poster session and door prizes. This event is by invitation only, except for students.
