Welcome Reception

All delegates are invited to attend the Welcome Reception sponsored by our Premier sponsors on Sunday evening. Come and enjoy a complimentary drink and hors d'oeuvres while you renew old acquaintances and meet new friends.

Student Bowling Night - sponsored by Vale Inco

Students are invited after the Welcome Reception to participate in a friendly bowling competition.  Drinks, food and transportation will be provided.  The activity is free of charge.  Get the week off to a fun start and meet your fellow students!

Monday, October 4th

MetSoc Annual General Meeting

On Monday, October 4th the Society will have its Annual General Meeting and will feature the inauguration of the new Metallurgical Society President. Tickets are $45/person or complimentary (depending on registration category).

Dinner in honour of MIchel Rigaud

The Materials section of the Metallurgical Society is honouring Michel Rigaud for his acheivements in advancing the science of Refractories and is organizing an evening to celebrate this event.  Dinner and some light entertainment will be offered.  The event will take place at the Hyatt hotel. 

Tickets for purchase are available through online registration at $70/person.

Student Industry Mixer - sponsored by 

On Monday evening, representatives from industry and students are invited to meet informally at the mixer.  We will announce the winners of the Student Poster session and draw prizes. This event is open to all students by invitation only for regular delegates.

MetSoc Section Meetings

The various sections of MetSoc will hold their annual meeting during lunch on Tuesday in the various technical rooms. The meetings will offer a free box sandwich lunch.  These meetings are an invitation to all who are interested in joining these groups and Society.

Lead - Zinc 2010 Luncheon - sponsored by

The Lead Zinc group is organizing a luncheon on Tuesday and will feature guest speaker Don Lindsay, CEO of Teck Resources Limited. 

Tickets are available for sale via the registration website at $55/person.

MetSoc Awards Banquet

On Tuesday, October 5th the Society will honor its outstanding members by the presentation of the Society Awards. The evening will offer light entertainment.< Tickets are complimentary for full paid registrants ($100/person for students, life and companions).

Historical Metallurgy Lunch Box - Guest speaker Phillip Mackey

The Historical Metallurgy Committee of MetSoc will host a box lunch featuring guest speaker Phillip Mackey on "Lessons of history - The beginnings of modern copper and nickel smelting technologies and the quest for energy efficiency and sulphur capture". No reservation, no tickets required.  Limited seats are available.
