Student Fun Night - Bowling - Students are invited after the Welcome Reception to participate in a friendly bowling competition. Drinks, food and transportation will be provided. MetSoc Annual General Meeting - On Monday, the Society will have its Annual General Meeting and will feature the inauguration of the new Metallurgy and Materials Society President. Complimentary Breakfast will be served.

World Gold Luncheon- tickets required - The World Gold organizing committee group is holding a luncheon on Tuesday and will feature guest speaker Paul Hébert, Mining Association of Canada. Ticket Price $45
Industry-Student Mixer - Representatives from industry and students are invited to meet informally at the mixer. We will announce the winners of the Student Poster session and draw prizes. To check other Student activities.
Scotch Tasting-Fundraiser - Network with industry leaders while enjoying fine scotches! This evening is a fundraiser for the MetSoc Student Fund
and the endowment Fund of the Canadian Mining and Metallurgical Foundation.
Participants will receive a partial tax receipt.
Marc Laverdière, Canadian Ambassador for Macallan and Highland Park Distilleries will travel to Montreal to provide his expertise in a sampling of 6 vintage scotches. The tastings will be accompanied by a selection of wines from Africa, Australia and North America as well as premium beers and international canapés. Guests will also enjoy an exhibition of fine jewelry in gold settings worthy of the International Gold Conference! Students-"Which Direction is your Career Heading?" - Free session hosted by Alicia Ferdinand, President of Proven Reserves Recruitment. She will present to students at COM 2011 on Strategies to help student in their career path. This 40 minutes presenation is open to all but the students in particular on Wednesday, October 5th. Free event.
Student Industry Round Table - This free event for students (students must confirm attendance) provides the opportunity for students and professionals to discuss topics and exchange ideas in a small group. Free event.
Historical Metallurgy Lunch Box - The Historical Metallurgy Committee of MetSoc will host a box lunch featuring a guest speakers Hugh J. McQueen, Prof. Emeritus, Mech. Ind. Eng., Concordia University and Larry McNally, Sci. & Med. Archivist, Archives Canada, Ottawa. The presentation of the lunch will be "Metal Industries around Montreal 1760 to 1910"; view abstract or view presenter biographies. No reservations, no tickets required. Limited seats are available.
