Posters from various fields of minerals, metals and materials research and technologies will be presented at the general poster session which will be held on Monday, August 25, 2008. Poster presentations provide an excellent opportunity for learning about current research projects, encourage interactive discussion and showcase the work of students.  On Monday evening, representatives from industry and students are invited to meet informally at the mixer sponsored by SGS Minerals. This event is by invitation only except for students.

Prizes will be awarded to outstanding student posters.  Only poster presentations about projects done by undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for awards.

STUDENT MONITORS

Students can become part of the COM as student monitors for technical sessions. Its an excellent opportunity to network and earn some extra cash. For more details click here!

Poster Instructions for all

Every author should be aware of the following recommendations before preparing their posters:

• Poster Board – Size of each board is 4 x 6 (120 cm x 198 cm).  Please respect the size of your poster.
• Readability – Background and font colors should be chosen in order to get adequate contrast and be easily legible from a distance of three feet.
• Set-up – The poster presentation will be held on Monday August 25, 2008. Participants will be asked to set-up their poster either after 4 pm Sunday or before 7:30 am Monday.  Judging will take place between 13:30 and 14:00. All posters should be removed by 18:00 Monday, August 25 at the latest.  Any poster left after this period will be removed by the organizers.
• Attendance – Presenters should be present at their poster during viewing time for conference delegates.
• The author’s name and address and the title of the paper should be described on the top section of the Poster.

Judging Criteria - Criteria will consist of

• Technical Content – background, procedure, analysis and discussion of results, conclusions (valid and supported).
• Appearance – overall layout, clarity, legibility and amount of text, quality of illustrations, graphs and micrographs.
• Oral Presentation – organization, clarity, timing.
