Industrial Tour 1 is a one-day tour being held Thursday, August 28, 2008 departing from the Delta Hotel 07:00 returning to the hotel at 19:00.

HudBay Minerals Inc. is an integrated mining company producing zinc, copper, gold and silver metals. Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co., Limited (“HBMS”) a wholly owned subsidiary operates in northern Manitoba. The Zinc plant produces 115,000 tonnes per year with the world’s first two stage zinc pressure leach plant using Sherritt technology. In 2001 HudBay commissioned a modern fully automated cellhouse designed by Asturiana de Zinc, S.A. The 777 mine is HudBay’s flagship mine that produced in 2006 1.37 million tonnes of ore. It is located immediately adjacent to HudBay’s metallurgical complex.

Important safety notice: Pregnant women are not permitted in the area above the cells, all other areas are fine. There will be a confidentiality agreement in regard to the cellhouse that will have to be signed. There is a clean shaven policy and fit testing of respirators is required as part of the safety system. Sizes for safety boots and coveralls will be needed from the participants.
