TECHNICAL PROGRAM
The technical program will be posted June 1st, 2009. COM 2009 will be a unique opportunity to explore technological, scientific and
strategic trends. Among the numerous attendees, there will be industry
executives, representatives of universities and research institutes, design
engineers, H.R. professionals, plant operators, as well as metallurgical,
environmental and health experts from all over the world. The technical program will highlight:
- Fundamentals of MINERAL PROCESSING in honour of Professor Jim Finch.
- HYDROMETALLURGICAL Processing of Nickel, Cobalt and
Valuable By-products.
- Advances in the Processing of Nickel, Cobalt and PGMs using PYROMETALLURGICAL Techniques.
- An Update on Existing Plants, and a Review of Proposed Projects
(for Hydro, Pyro or
Mineral Processing).
- Upgrading of LATERITES.
- Current MANAGEMENT and Human Resource Issues.
- MATERIALS Development and Performance of Sulphur Capture Plants.
- PROCESS CONTROL Applications in Mining and Metallurgical Plants.
- Applied MINERALOGY in Mining/Metallurgical Plants, with a strong emphasis on how these techniques can be used to design, improve and optimize the performance of metallurgical plants.
- GREEN TECHNOLOGIES for the Mining and Metallurgical Industries.
In addition to the above-listed symposia, COM 2009 will highlight a
poster session.
IMPORTANT DATES AND NOTICES
- CALL FOR PAPERS CLOSES. January 31, 2009 (EXTENDED DEADLINE) except the Ni-Co Hydrometallurgy’s call for papers closes November 30, 2008.
- NOTIFICATION TO AUTHORS. February 1 to 20, 2009 (REVISED DATE), authors will receive notification of acceptance or regret.
- DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING CAMERA-READY PAPERS FOR FINAL EDITING: MARCH 31, 2009.
Each presentation must have a submitted manuscript for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Failure to submit your manuscript will result in removal from the technical program. SUBMIT PAPER NOW! The below-listed symposia will NOT be publishing proceedings:
• MANAGEMENT-Current Management and Human Resource Issues (ppt on CD-ROM only). Author's presenting at the Management in Metallurgy Symposium are expected to submit their power point presentations by July 1, 2009. You will be contacted by your Chairman during the month of June with more details.
• POSTER SESSION. Deadline to submit a poster July 1, 2009.

- DEADLINE FOR PRESENTERS REGISTRATION: JUNE 1, 2009 . At least one author/presenter per paper must be registered. Presenters will be required to pay their registration fees
in full by June 1, 2009 (see your
registration category for exact price). Failure to register by June 1, 2009 will result in removal from the proceedings and the technical program.
Presenters with multiple submissions need only register once.
