MetSoc Introduces new paper options for Academic authors!
MetSoc of CIM is happy to introduce a pilot project for authors participating in the 2017 Conference of Metallurgists. Academic and industry authors will now be offered options for the publication of their paper presented.
How Paper publication options will help the industry
In recent years, changes in demands of government and funding agencies as well as publishers have put restrictions on publishing a paper in Conference Proceedings for academic authors. MetSoc of CIM is addressing this challenge for the authors who represent approximately 30% of our attendees.
As a consequence, to continue sharing information to members and the industry at large, MetSoc worked with our Academic community to find solutions that will offer flexibility and give access to research findings to all participants attending MetSoc conferences.
Dr. Budac, COM 2017 chair and host for the 7th World Gold Conference and 4th International Nickel Cobalt Conference spear-headed the project with Peter Lind of Goldcorp, MetSoc Publication Chair.
As Dr. Budac recently stated “For the Metals Society of CIM to continue to provide service to our members and conference delegates we need to be mindful of the following principles
MetSoc must provide value to the membership by way of timely sharing of information related to the Canadian Metals and Materials industries and to provide opportunities for networking at conferences.
MetSoc must provide a process for publication that meet standards on open access and the avoidance of self-plagiarism as required by funding agencies and publishers respectively
In order to meet the above, we are introducing the following new opportunities to authors presenting papers at COM 2017.”
Authors will now be offered their preference for publication (conference Proceedings or journal). To read more or to join us at COM 2017 as an author:
