We are so glad that you could join us at the COM 2003 Conference of Metallurgists, in Vancouver!
There are a number of events being held for students:
Official Pub - During the conference the official Student Pub will announced soon!
Go there any evening during
the COM and you will find fellow students - hopefully you'll make friends across the country!
Student Chapter Leadership Training - Leaders of the 2003-2004 student chapters will be
trained at the session on Sunday, August 24 in the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, it starts at 17:00.
Industry-Student Mixer - will be held on Monday, August 25 from 17:00 to 19:00 in the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel (room to be announced). Sponsored by industry attendees, this event has served to
introduce students to the professionals who are key supporters of our metallurgical community.
It is an informal affair providing university students with the opportunity to learn more about
career paths and professional development.
Short courses - 50% discount for students.
Industrial tours - Stand-by available at cost. 1st Come-1st Served. Show up by 7:30.
Poster Session - The poster session will be on display on Monday August 25, 2003. The Poster Session will be judged officially from 8:00 to 10:00 on Monday, August 25. You can post your poster on Monday as of 7:00. Those students with
posters will be competing for cash and book prizes.
These meetings can be overwhelming when attending for
the first time, especially as a student… so enclosed are some "How to Network" tips.
