AUGUST 21 - 24, 2005 (CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA)


Industrial tours will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2006. Each tour includes transportation and is limited to a maximum number of participants. Tours will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Industrial Tour 1: Prudential Steel Ltd and Shaw Pipe Protection Ltd.

The cost of the tour includes transportation and requires a minimum of ten (10) and is limited to a maximum of fourteen (14) participants. Participants will be selected on a first-come first-served basis.

Prudential Steel Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Maverick Tube Corporation, is one of North America's leading producers of high quality energy and industrial tubular products. Prudential Steel Ltd. markets its products to both the Energy sector and the Industrial sector. Its energy products include line pipe used in the transportation of oil and gas to processing and transmission lines as well as Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) used in downhole production of oil and gas. Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) are supplied to the industrial sector as support structures in construction, mining, fabrication and agricultural industries. Prudential operates 3 pipe-making facilities in Calgary, Alberta with over 400,000 tonnes of annual capacity. (www.prudentialsteel.com)

Shaw Pipe Protection Ltd. is the Canadian Division of the Bredero Shaw Group, the largest international applicator and supplier of anti-corrosion coatings, concrete weight coatings, thermal insulation coatings and specialized coatings to the oil and gas pipeline industry. Bredero have operational units worldwide including permanent and mobile coating facilities in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. In Calgary they have a coating facility which produces Yellow Jacket (Crosshead Extruded) Insul-8 Spray Foam insulation and moulded foam insulation, insulated polyethylene pipe systems, heat shrinkable sleeves, tapes, primers, and field joint material. Industrial Tour 2: Corefco and Dynatec Metallurgical Technologies Division

The tour includes transportation by chartered bus and lunch. It requires a minimum of twenty (20) and is limited to a maximum of thirty five (35) participants. Participants will be selected on a first-come first-served basis.

Corefco (The Cobalt Refinery Company Inc.). The Fort Saskatchewan facilities include a nickel refinery, a cobalt refinery and ancillary facilities. The metals refinery differs from conventional pyrometallurgy smelting facilities in that it uses only pressure hydrometallurgical processes. The advantages of this process, in comparison with conventional refining processes, are that it requires lower capital costs, does not emit sulphur dioxide, and substantially all metal and chemical agents are recovered for sale or use in another form.

Dynatec Metallurgical Technologies Division is a recognized leader in the development of environmentally friendly hydrometallurgical processes to recover nickel, copper, cobalt, zinc, uranium, refractory gold and other metals from ores, concentrates and intermediate materials.
