The Third International Symposium on Aerospace Materials & Manufacturing: Emerging Materials, Manufacturing, and Repair Techniques

The Materials Performance and Integrity Section and the Materials Science and Engineering Section of the METSOC are jointly organizing this symposium, which is co-sponsored by the ASM Canada Council. Montréal is the heart of the aerospace industry in Canada with world leader companies using the most recent materials, manufacturing, repair and testing technologies to produce engines, airframes, landing gears, and to repair and overhaul critical components. The constant improvement in material properties, the introduction of new alloys and the emergence of new manufacturing technologies such as friction stir welding, linear friction welding and Hydroforming as well as advanced coating technologies and compositions bring new technical challenges to materials and manufacturing specialists. The possible industrial application of any innovative material or process will depend on reducing the overall cost and increasing the life cycle and the reliability of the component. Sessions will cover, but are not limited to:

• Superalloys and intermetallics
• High temperature titanium alloys
• Composites technologies and process innovations for airframe applications
• Advanced process technologies such as friction stir welding, linear friction welding, laser and electron beam welding, metal injection moulding, hydroforming, EB-PVD and plasma spray technologies
• Component degradation and protection
• Repair and life cycle management technologies.
