International Symposium on Advanced Steels

Chairman: Jerzy A. Szpunar

This symposium will provide a forum for presenting progress in innovative design, processing and characterizing of steels. It is intended to focus on better understanding and optimizing the processing and structure of new steels, improvement of strength and formability and better control of high temperature oxidation, corrosion resistance and surface quality. Presentations that focus on new methods for characterizing structure and properties of steels and simulation of microstructural development during processing are encouraged. Papers discussing advances in development of steels for automotive, construction, transportation, energy, pipe and tube, appliance and packaging industries are of interest. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit abstracts with emphasis on, but not limited to, the topics listed below:

  • New development in structural modification of steel structure
  • Progress in processing ultra-fine structured steels
  • New high alloy steels
  • API and TMCP steels for automotive application
  • Superplastic formability of steels
  • Advances in development of new mechanisms of steel strengthening
  • New magnetic polycrystalline and amorphous steels
  • Progress in microstructural and textural simulation of steel structure
  • Processing for optimizing quality of sheet surface
  • Ecologic developments in steel processing.
