The new Goldstrike roaster, scheduled for full operation by mid-2000, will raise total processing capacity,
lower overall operating costs, and increase processing flexibility at Barrick's Goldstrike Property.
The plant uses a dry grinding process and Freeport McMoran Inc. roaster technology to handle its 12 million ounces of
carbonaceous ores, whose naturally occuring activated carbon content seriously inhibits gold recovery.
The following additional circuits are used in the plant: a dry grinding circuit, a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit,
gas scrubbers, and a stand-alone low-pressure oxygen plant.
