MetSoc and its members mourn dedicated metallurgist and friend
Dr. Dutrizac was a lifetime member of CIM and contributed his time to the MetSoc Board and hydrometallurgy committee. He became President of the MetSoc of CIM and won the Silver Metal award in 1989 among many other awards. John has authored numerous Papers and edited publications. In all his research efforts, Dr. Dutrizac’s philosophy has been to develop an understanding of the fundamental phenomena associated with metallurgical processing, and to use that knowledge to improve the process itself. Many of his contributions constitute an enduring foundation for both fundamental investigations and process development.
John is considered one of the “fathers” of the Copper-Cobre conference series and as such in 2007 a symposium was named in his honour to acknowledge his commitment and dedication. As we are celebrating the 10 edition of this conference this year in August 2019, John will be missed and remembered.
