Prix Airey de MetSoc
Le prix Airey est une commémoration du défunt H.T. Airey qui a joué un rôle fondamental dans la création et l’organisation de la Conférence annuelle des métallurgistes pour la Société de la métallurgie et des matériaux de l’ICM. Xstrata soutient ce prix en reconnaissance aux contributions significatives à l’avancement de la métallurgie au Canada.
Le Prix Airey doit être considéré comme :
- le prix le plus prestigieux en métallurgie et matériaux au Canada.
- la reconnaissance d’une contribution professionnelle ou d’une contribution individuelle exceptionnelle basée sur au moins 15 ans de participation.

Tony Warner
Worley
Citation: In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Canadian nickel and copper industries..
Born and educated in England, Dr. Tony Warner after obtaining his Ph.D. in Extractive Metallurgical Engineering at the Royal School of Mines, joined Inco in 1970 at the Port Colborne Research Stations where the laterite flowsheets for the future smelters in Indonesia and Guatemala were being developed.
In 1971 he transferred to Thompson as Supervisor Smelter Process Technology and then to PT Inco Indonesia in 1975 as Supt. Process Technology and in 1979 as Supt. Smelting and Converting. He returned to Canada in 1981 to the Copper Cliff Smelter as Supt. Smelter Projects and was involved in the SO2 abatement program and changes to the smelter at that time. In 1989 he transferred to Port Colborne as Supt. Research and Refinery Process Technology. He transferred to Sheridan Park in 1994 as Section Head Advanced Materials and then in August 1997 as Section Head Pyrometallurgy until he retired from Inco in 2005.
After a long summer retirement and to discover life after INCO, Tony joined HG Engineering the day it became WorleyParsons in 2005 where he has been having fun working and mentoring others on numerous metallurgical projects since then. His current role is Director Metallurgy Smelting and Refining for Worley Technology and Expert Solutions (TES) in Toronto.

Critère
Le prix Airey devrait être considéré comme le prix le plus prestigieux décerné à un membre du MetSoc en métallurgie et matériaux canadiens. Reconnaissance d’une contribution de carrière ou d’une contribution individuelle exceptionnelle basée sur au moins 15 ans de contribution. Les contributions et les retombées doivent profiter au Canada.
La contribution au secteur de la métallurgie et des matériaux au Canada inclut :
- le leadership en recherche et développement
- la contribution à la recherche et au développement
- le développement de procédés our produits significatifs
- le leadership technologique
- le leadership du secteur favorisant un climat qui mène à un grand développement technologique
Tous les candidats doivent être des membres de l’Institut pendant un minimum de 5 ans (non-consécutif). Le statut du membre doit etre en règle au moment de la candidature et pendant l’année précédante. Des exceptions à cette exigence d’adhésion peuvent être faites dans le cas où un candidat a un historique substantiel de contributions à MetSoc.
Il n’y a pas d’argent liquide pour ce prix.
